ckochandClaude Opus 4.8 97d3c3e72a Expedition 33: drop vendored fix, mark native (fixes crash)
After a reboot E33 kept crashing. The ClairObscurFix.log showed why the earlier
'reduced profile' never helped: config flags gate behaviour INSIDE the fix's
hooks, but the .asi installs all its hooks (Level Load, Widgets, cutscene,
PostProcess) regardless. So the crash surface was never reduced - only removing
the fix stops it.

The game added official ultrawide support in patch 1.2.3 and renders correctly
at 5120x1440 natively, so the archived fix was pure liability. Removed it
entirely and marked the entry native.

- New METHOD=native: install.sh no-ops with a message, build/publish skip it.
- Deleted vendor/ClairObscurFix and the tuned ini (unused, crash-causing).
- README/THIRD_PARTY/CHANGELOG updated; ClairObscurFix recorded as historical.

Third-Party Components

This project bundles the following components, redistributed under their respective licenses. This ultrawide fix is a configuration + installer around them; all runtime patching is performed by SUWSF.

SUWSF (Somewhat Universal Widescreen Fix)

Ultimate ASI Loader

BepInEx

  • License: LGPL-2.1
  • Files: vendor/BepInEx_win_x64_5.4.23.5.zip (redistributed unmodified)
  • Used by Unity games (e.g. Burglin' Gnomes) to load the C# fix plugin.

UnityExplorer (development only)

  • Author: sinai-dev
  • Source: https://github.com/sinai-dev/UnityExplorer
  • License: GPL-3.0
  • Files: vendor/UnityExplorer.BepInEx5.Mono.zip
  • Used only for runtime inspection while developing a fix; it is NOT part of any release package and is not required by end users.

ClairObscurFix (no longer bundled)

  • Author: Lyall — https://github.com/Lyall/ClairObscurFix (MIT)
  • Was vendored for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, then removed: the game gained official ultrawide support (patch 1.2.3) and the archived fix crashed on current builds. The E33 entry is now native and ships no third-party code.

Patch patterns

The AspectRatioAxisConstraint (HOR+) and ConstrainAspectRatio (pillarbox) byte patterns in games/*/SUWSF.ini are adapted from the UE4 fixes in Lyall's UltrawidePatches (notably Trepang2 and Lies of P), which are provided for community use with SUWSF.

Note

This project does not modify, crack, or circumvent any game copy protection. SUWSF applies runtime aspect-ratio/FOV adjustments in memory for the benefit of owners playing on ultrawide displays. You must own the game.
